World of Warplanes is the recently released free-to-play warplane-based game brought to us by the creators of World of Tanks, Wargaming. The game takes place during the “Golden Age” of aviation, so all but the highest tier of planes are powered by propeller. While not a hardcore flight simulator, it does have several of the features that made World of Tanks such a great game, including large battles and tech trees.
While still having a lot of strategy involved, the game is a lot more action-based than World of Tanks, as you won’t be sitting still or hiding behind bushes. The arcade-like controls make it extremely easy to get into the game, and it can be played with a mouse and keyboard so there is no need for an expensive joystick to enjoy the experience (though it’s certainly supported!). It seems Wargaming may have another successful game on their hands.
World of Warplanes is a stand alone Free to play game being developed by the team that created the award winning and highly acclaimed game, World of Tanks. World of Tanks is a team-based massively multiplayer online game dedicated to armored warfare in the mid-20th century. An advanced system of vehicle upgrade and development allows you to try out the vehicles and weapons featured in the game. Whether you prefer to exhaust your foes with fast and maneuverable light tanks, punch deep into enemy lines with all-purpose medium tanks, use the power of heavy tanks to eliminate opposing forces, or become a high-powered sniper using long-range artillery, each unit type is extremely lethal and effective when commanded by a true tank ace.
The game is mainly focused on Player vs. Player battle, unlike WoT it offers a PvE mode for new players to test out their skills and equipment. Although the PvE mode sounds great, it’s just a 2v2 mode with you pretty much just flying around and shooting down 2 idle players. The game also offers a “training mode” which is the basic tutorial you have to complete when you first start the game.
The creators of World Of Tanks finally release the second chapter of their epic WW2-era gaming franchise. Does it take off into new heights or sputter out before leaving the tarmac? In 2011, released their ground breaking title in the F2P (Free To Play) MMO genre World Of Tanks to the masses. In the past two years, they have racked up praise for their innovative title in the form of great reviews, awards and garnered a Guinness World Record for concurrent players on a server.
